Aries New Moon Reading

The next New Moon will be exact on the 24th of March at 5:28 AM (ET), and will take place at 4 degrees of Aries.

How are you? Staying grounded? Reaching out for help when necessary? Giving back where and when you are able? This is such a wild time; please be gentle with yourselves and others. Remaining cool, calm, and collected could be especially important for this coming New Moon.

Though every New Moon brings the potential for new beginnings, the New Moon in Aries can tend to supercharge feelings around needing a fresh start. It’s the first New Moon in the Astrological New Year and the first of a new seasonal quarter, too. Add to that the GO-GO-GO energy of Aries, and it’s no wonder this New Moon is typically a great time to launch something. Given the state of our current climate though, I think it may serve us to channel the eager, sometimes impulsive energy of Aries into something more suited for this time.

That’s going to look different for everyone, of course, and will depend a lot on where Aries is in your own natal chart. For example, if it rules your 7th House you may want to consider how you’re showing up in relationships right now. Are you reaching out to those who matter most? How might you bring inspiration to those you’re closest with? Or, maybe Aries rules your 3rd House, which could make this a great time to take some initiative in the areas of communication and even social media. How might you bring a spark of excitement to those areas of life?

Above all, if you’re experiencing a build up in energy while the Moon transits Aries – from around 9pm on March 23 until around 9am on March 26 (eastern time) – find a way to release it, to help avoid feelings of impatience or any potential flare-ups and bursts of negativity.

Now, onto your New Moon Reading!

Yes, you read that right, this is a New Moon Reading and not your regularly scheduled New Moon Tarotscopes. Apologies to those of you who love the Tarotscopes – they will return! – but I felt called to offer something a little different this time around.

I decided to pull some cards that would serve as a message for my community. I didn’t use any particular spread, I just shuffled until a few cards fell out and when I got to four, that felt right. I am truly struck by the relevance of each card that came up, and I hope the messages they conveyed to me, are of service to you.

Happy reading and Happy New Moon!

the hanged one
As a collective, we’re being advised to slow down and take things day by day, and The Hanged One has quite a similar invitation. Much of what this card asks us to work through, runs parallel with what many of us are experiencing in this moment: the discomfort that often arises when we’re forced to hang in the balance and wait for answers/a sign/etc. There’s a sense of being stuck or restricted, and unfortunately this isn’t the kind of restriction we’re meant to challenge. When we resist this call to slow down, to find peace in the waiting, some level of pushback typically occurs. Perhaps some of you have already seen that pushback manifest in some form or another. With The Hanged One, our best course of action is to surrender to the in-between space we’re being called into. If we can (and when we do) this energy has a great deal to teach us about perspective, patience, and perseverance.

four of swords
We are being called to give our minds the gift of rest and relaxation. While the Moon is transiting Aries, it may prove beneficial to limit or even fully restrict our interaction with the more politically-driven social medias. We’ve all taken in so much information at this point – maybe even bordering on too much – and our brains haven’t had adequate time to figure out what the hell to do with all of it. We may also want to take a break from engaging in conversations that only cause more anxiety and overwhelm. The Four of Swords doesn’t ask that we ignore the world around us, it simply invites us to allow proper time to process all of the thoughts and ideas swirling around in our heads, so that we’re better equipped to handle whatever comes next. It may serve us to turn our focus towards creative pursuits, or perhaps we should all cue up our favorite comedies and sitcoms to relieve some of the pressure we may be feeling; laughter would make an excellent form of release. Bottom line: allow for mental timeouts whenever possible throughout this transit.

four of wands
It’s wild how much has changed in such a short time. Two weeks ago, I probably wouldn’t have considered the space between the forefront of this card and the two figures in its distance, through the lens of separation. Typically, when I pull the Four of Wands, I imagine I’m walking either towards or away from the figures. But today this card speaks to me about finding connection and joy despite our current need for physical separation. This is our call to find new ways of engaging with friends and community. More than that, it’s an invitation to for us to make this new form of connection as joyful and sacred as possible. The Four of Wands reminds us to schedule-in time for fun and games and play; its energy helps us to create structure and consistency around celebrations and joy. Connecting with someone, or a group, at regular intervals, may just be the fuel we need to power through.

the tower
The way I see it, the entire world is in the middle of a Tower “moment” but it’s really not all doom and gloom. Is there pain, suffering, fear, and even loss? Yes, without question, and obviously no one deserves it. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a disaster in order for us humans to finally see and fully understand just how much certain aspects of our lives were in need of shifts and changes. And, on a larger scale, how so many of our collective systems and structures were built on pretty shaky foundations. It’s anyone’s guess how we go back to “normal” but surely there will be a need for restructuring before rebuilding. If you feel called to be part of that in the collective sense, I salute and thank you. But it’s also okay if you take this appearance from The Tower as a sign to first restructure and rebuild your own foundations. Similar to The Hanged One, a great first step is to surrender – to the changes happening both around and within you. Let them show you what new opportunities and paradigms are becoming available to you, through this transformation.

As always, I hope you found some resonance in these messages.

I’d love to hear from you, whether it’s about the reading or how you’re celebrating this lunation, so please feel free to reach out.

I’ll be back in about two weeks time with your Tarotscopes for the Libra Full Moon, but until then…

Don’t wait for it. Just let it happen.”
